The Lord of the dance

β€œGod is the great dance.”

I fell asleep praying last night, and awoke this morning with this quote heavy on my heart:

β€œThose who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”

We, His children, dance with God to the rhythms of His grace.

The world observes, but fails to understand.

Unable to hear the music, they simply cannot make sense of what they are seeing.

We know that to follow His steps is the greatest joy imaginable. We marvel at the unmatched beauty of His choreography. We find ourselves captivated by His concerto of mercy.

The world watches and wonders, mystified, but also strangely intrigued.

God invites us to remain on the dance floor, in His arms, in step with Him.

He knows that longing wallflowers eventually grow discontent on the periphery.

He knows that the moment will come when they will hear the music for themselves, and make their way to the dance floor.

Emboldened by the music, and aching to experience what they have observed, they will tap us on the shoulder, and we will gladly step aside.

Then it will be their turn to know what we have come to know:
That the music never ends,
that with Him is where we were always meant to be,
and that indescribable, unspeakable joy can only be found in the embrace of the Lord of the Dance.

β€œThe dance of the universe is not to be understood, but to be joined.”
