At the easel

Redemption is God’s way of beautifying the very things that threaten to mar the masterpiece. Redemption is His way of tempering and softening the pain on the palette by deliberately mingling it with joy that transfigures.

In life, as in art, one cannot paint a portrait with a singular hue. One tone, one color, simply will not suffice. To leave out even one spot, one shade, one fleck, one brushstroke is to miss the contribution the individual components make to the finished product.

The interplay of shadow and light is essential to any work of art. Our lives are no exception, so we submit to the work of His hands and testify to the beauty that results when we hand God the brush. We dictate neither the colors nor the design, we simply yield to the portrait that materializes when we trust Him with the outcome.

From concept to culmination, we surrender to His redemption-saturated artistry and dream of the extraordinary unveiling that awaits us all once the brushes are stilled and the work is complete.

Until then, may we trust both the process and the One who faithfully touches brush to canvas. For each and every moment He spends at the easel, may we still ourselves in His presence, and allow our Divine Artist to capture us as only He can.

The reveal will more than make up for the waiting and pain that preceded it. You can bank on it! Be encouraged today, beloved.

“We are, not metaphorically but in very truth, a Divine work of art, something that God is making, and therefore something with which He will not be satisfied until it has a certain character.”
