*Revisiting a trip I took two years following Jimmy’s loss. I remember it all so vividly. I was still absolutely broken, and it was the first “big girl” trip I had taken all by myself. God met me in so many ways then, as He continues to now, and I remain grateful for, and astonished by, His goodness.

I drove to the Outer Banks today, on target to arrive just after sunset. I rarely drive at night anymore, but the sunset blazed, and I was beckoned.
I pulled over twice, attempting to capture
what can never truly be captured.
I marveled at the beauty,
grateful for the display,
caught up in the grandeur of it all.
I bragged on the Lord over what His power had wrought and applauded His exquisite, unmatched artistry.
Then, just a bit ago, with the breeze blowing and the waves crashing in the distance, the moon appeared, along with one, solitary star.
My heart was full, His presence, palpable.
Truly, creation testifies and the heavens declare.
I remain simply undone, bowled over, ever mindful that the One who did all that, governs my life, orders my steps, and plots my path.
“O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! who hast set Thy glory above the heavens. When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?”
Psalm 8:1-4
⭐️ Beloved,
He knows each star by name,
so rest assured this much is true,
the One who knows the stars by name
has not forgotten you.
